The Elmira College Speech and Hearing Clinic provides comprehensive hearing aid and speech services for children and adults in the Elmira, NY region.
Our licensed audiology supervisors and trained graduate clinicians work together to help patients improve communication, hearing clarity, and quality of life through personalized hearing solutions. The clinic is open to the public and also provides the college's undergraduate students with practicum experiences they need to complement their academic coursework.

The Elmira College Speech and Hearing Clinic offers both diagnostic and therapeutic services to the public. All clinical services are either provided or supervised by professional audiologists or speech-language pathologists who hold the appropriate credentials in their fields.
We provide speech and hearing aid services for children, adults, elderly, and individuals with special needs. We offer individualized care plans designed for each patient's communication goals.
Hearing aid prices vary depending on technology level, features, and listening needs. At our clinic, hearing aids typically range from $746 to $2,874 per device. During your consultation, we will review opitons that match your hearing goals, lifestyle, and budget.
We provide support even if your hearing aids were purchased at another clinic. Services include cleaning, troubleshooting, adjustments, reprogramming (when compatible), and counseling to help you get the best performance from your devices.
Many patients with tinnitus benefit from hearing aids because amplification of everyday sounds can reduce the perception of ringing or buzzing. Some hearing aids also include built-in tinnitus sound therapy features that provide additional relief. Our team can evaluate whether hearing aids may help manage your tinnitus symptoms.
After a speech evaluation, recommendations are shared with the client/family. If we recommend enrollment in therapy, every attempt will be made to enroll the client as soon as possible.
Speech and language therapy is delivered in 25-minute sessions twice weekly by undergraduate clinicians and supervised by faculty members. The Clinic schedule follows the College academic calendar. The Clinic is closed when students are not on campus. A Clinic calendar is provided at the beginning of the academic year in September or when the client begins therapy.
In some rare instances, the Clinic may not be able to provide service to clients who have severe medical conditions, behavior management needs, or certain communication problems. In this situation, one of the professional staff will help guide the family to other qualified service providers.
The clinic does not bill insurance directly, but we provide detailed documentation that patients may submit to their insurance provider for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

Is the clinic open year-round?
Yes. We are open 12 months a year to provide continuous care for our patients. While we may observe standard holidays, we do not close for seasonal or summer breaks, ensuring you always have access to support.
Does the clinic see members of the community?
Absolutely! The clinic provides services for both children and adults, including individuals with a wide range of communication and hearing needs. We work with pediatric, adolescent, adult, and older adult patients, including individuals with special needs, developmental differences, neurological conditions, and complex communication challenges. Each patient receives an individualized evaluation and treatment plan tailored to their specific goals and abilities.
Can I try hearing aids before I buy them?
Absolutely. We offer risk-free hearing aid trials so you can experience the benefits in your real-world environments like home, work, and social gatherings. Take a set of demo devices home with you for a week to decide how much benefit they bring you.
Do you accept insurance?
The clinic does not bill insurance directly. However, we provide detailed receipts and documentation that patients may submit to their insurance provider for possible out-of-network reimbursement, depending on individual plan benefits. Patients are encouraged to check with their insurance company regarding coverage eligibility.
Do I need a referral to schedule an appointment?
No referral is required because we do not work with insurances.

Unlike over-the-counter options, our professional prescription aids are often "bundled," meaning the price includes the devices, custom fitting, initial programming, and ongoing follow-up care for a set period.
Which hearing aid brands do you work with?
We work with all six major reputable manufacturers that lead the global market in innovation and reliability. This allows us to provide a truly unbiased recommendation based on your unique hearing profile. The "Big Six" brands we carry include: Starkey, ReSound, Widex, Oticon, Phonak, & Unitron.
Can you help if I already have hearing aids?
Yes. The clinic provides services for individuals who already own hearing aids, even if the devices were purchased elsewhere. Services may include hearing aid checks, cleaning, adjustments, reprogramming (when compatible), counseling on device use, and recommendations to improve listening performance.
