Mountain Day declared!

Day classes cancelled. Click for more info.arrow

Today, Tuesday, September 30, 2025 is Mountain Day!

In keeping with this time-honored EC tradition, all daytime classes are canceled. However, evening classes are still as scheduled.

Mountain Day is a tradition that dates back more than a century. Initiated in 1918 by Dean Anstice Harris, Mountain Day was originally a day where students, faculty, and administrators hiked the East Hill up to Quarry Farm.

Currently, the tradition kicks off with students gathering to sing the College's beloved songs and chant, "Hey, hey, what do you say? We want a Mountain Day!" Once Mountain Day is declared, the tradition continues with an outdoor picnic, a walk/run to Quarry Farm, and fun outdoor activities.
