The Childhood Special Education (Grades 1-6) major prepares you to teach children in grades 1-6 with special needs and learning disabilities.

The curriculum includes classes focused on working with this developmental demographic, in addition to a core curriculum of general education courses. As part of the degree program, all students will be required to sit for the New York State Teacher Certification Examinations. This program pairs well with our Childhood Education for dual certification in Childhood and Childhood Special Education.
