Launch Your Career in Osteophathic Medicine With Us

If you want to get a head start on your future in health care, Elmira offers an Early Acceptance Program (EAP) partnership with the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM). You can apply for, interview for, and secure acceptance to medical school during high school or your first two years at Elmira if you meet the admission criteria. Among the benefits of getting accepted into our EAP program is not having to search for a medical school or take the MCAT. And since LECOM’s Elmira campus is located on our campus, the transition to your graduate studies is seamless.

Medical Specialty

If you decide to go to medical school, you have two track options to choose from.

  • Accelerated 2+4 Track: This unique six-year accelerated program will reduce the time you spend in college, saving you money and allowing you to start your career more quickly. You’ll spend your first two years at Elmira College (EC) completing your general education requirements and taking courses toward a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology. In your third year, you’ll complete your BS degree and start your DO work while dual-enrolled at EC and LECOM. Your final three years will be dedicated to earning your DO at LECOM.
  • 4+4 Track: The traditional 4+4 EAP option means you’ll complete your undergraduate degree at EC in the normal four years. Provided you maintain the required GPA and other requirements, you’ll enter LECOM’s DO program in July following your EC graduation. You’ll complete your DO work in four years at LECOM.

Pharmacy Specialty

If you decide to specialize in pharmacy, you have two track options to choose from.

Provided you maintain the required GPA and other requirements, you’ll enter LECOM’s Pharmacy program in August following the end of your third year. You’ll complete your Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) work in four years at LECOM. You can also earn your bachelor’s degree by utilizing credits from the courses taken while at LECOM.
  • 4+ Track: This track means you’ll complete your undergraduate degree at Elmira in the normal four years. Provided you maintain the required GPA and other requirements, you’ll enter LECOM’s Pharmacy program in August following your EC graduation. You’ll complete your Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) work in four years at LECOM.

Dentistry Specialty

For the Dental 4+4 track, you’ll complete your undergraduate degree at EC in the normal four years. Provided you maintain the required GPA, achieve a passing score on the Dental Admission Test (DAT), and complete other requirements, you’ll enter LECOM’s Dental program in July following your EC graduation. You’ll complete your Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) work in four years at LECOM.

Ace Your LECOM Interview

Preparation is key to having a good interview. Remember: Getting an interview does not mean you’re being admitted to the program. Consider these tips:

  • Dress the part: Dress professionally and use common sense when you're choosing your wardrobe and accessories.
  • Do your research: Learn about the specific program being offered at LECOM and how it appeals to you.
  • Come prepared to talk ... and listen: Think of pertinent questions you can ask your interviewer and remember to engage. Be aware of your body language, show enthusiasm, and remember: Part of communicating is knowing how to be a good listener!
  • Be yourself: Try your best to relax and let your personality shine. Your authenticity matters—not just your skills and talents.
  • Follow up: Send a thank-you email after the interview, letting your interviewer know you're grateful for the opportunity.
