Students pursuing the Mathematical Sciences option have obtained internships with potential future employers. Students pursuing the Education option complete student teaching to satisfy their internship.
You'll also have the opportunity to participate in a research experience at Elmira College to satisfy your internship.
Prizes/Scholarships:
- Abraham Shabanowitz Mathematics Prize - Established by Professor Emeritus Harry Shabanowitz in memory of his father and awarded to a graduating student showing outstanding achievement in the field of mathematics and holding an overall GPA of 3.00 or better.
- Hypatia Mathematics Prize - Named after Hypatia of Alexandria and established by Patricia Opp McMahon '66. It is awarded to a female junior who exhibits enthusiasm for mathematics and the desire to share that passion with others through education or other career endeavors in order to recognize more women for their interest and competency in this important field of study. The award is chosen by a committee comprised of the Departments of Mathematics and Education.
