Elmira College and Syracuse University are partnering to provide EC students another direct path to graduate school. Adding to EC’s two current graduate pathway programs to Syracuse, this new Early Assurance Program offers first-year EC applicants and current EC students early assurance to one of 15 Syracuse graduate programs across four schools and colleges. Direct pathways like this help students save money and time, reducing their stress and freeing them up to enjoy all that their undergraduate experience has to offer.
In this EC-SU EAP, first-year applicants to EC can simultaneously apply for conditional admission to one of the designated Syracuse graduate programs. Current EC students can seek early assurance at any point in their undergraduate careers.
Accepted students will first benefit from EC’s personalized attention and hands-on learning experiences. Then, when entering SU, students receive a guaranteed scholarship equal to 30 percent of the SU tuition rate, applied each semester. Students who earn a conditional offer as first-year applicants do not need to submit a formal graduate application once they meet the benchmarks. The graduate application fee will be waived for current students.
“At Elmira, we’re focused on helping our students become career-ready,” said Dr. Patricia Ireland, EC Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic, Administrative, and Student Affairs. “That’s why we’re delighted to deepen our relationship with Syracuse University, which has some of the nation’s top-ranked graduate programs. For students looking for a smaller, more personalized undergraduate experience, this program offers the best of both worlds: the opportunity to build a strong academic foundation at EC and then continue their education at a leading research university."
“This pathway gives talented students a clear, supported route from their undergraduate studies to advanced work in fields where our schools and colleges are leaders, from data science and artificial intelligence to forensic science, social work and communications,” says Dr. Lois Agnew, Vice Chancellor, Provost and Chief Academic Officer at Syracuse. “We’re grateful to our colleagues at Elmira for their partnership and look forward to supporting these students as they take the next step in their careers.”
This streamlined pathway applies to the following Syracuse University graduate programs:
Biomedical Forensic Science

Students can indicate their interest when applying using the Elmira College application for admission, or by talking with their EC Admissions Counselor to discuss the program further. An Elmira faculty advisor will be identified to guide prospective and current EC students. Once accepted to an SU EAP graduate program, students must maintain a minimum grade point average at EC to stay eligible.
