John Savash, Associate Professor of Accounting and Finance at Elmira College, was recently elected President of the Executive Board of the New York Government Finance Officers’ Association for the 2025-2026 term.
According to a NYGFOA press release, the Association members are “looking forward to working with John in his new capacity” and to having a great year ahead.
Savash plans to focus on promoting how the government finance industry provides a beneficial and rewarding career. He’ll also look to enhance workforce development opportunities.
Savash has held a leadership position on the NYGFOA Executive Board since 2010. He often presents and instructs for NYGFOA, most recently co-presenting for the newly launched Government Accounting Essentials program.
NYGFOA is a professional organization supporting those who work in and support the field of government finance. The organization's goal is to provide members with the most valuable learning opportunities, up-to-date information, and networking resources.
