You’ll learn the fundamental and advanced principles of accounting as you prepare for a future in business, management, the nonprofit sector, or government. Through our coursework, you’ll become familiar with key terminology and concepts as you learn about strategic financial planning, budgeting, collecting and analyzing financial data, and the crucial role accounting data plays in a business or organization. You can broaden your studies by combining the Accounting major with a second major in Business Administration or Finance.
BS in Accounting – 150-Credit CPA Licensure Qualification: This New York State-registered program is designed to satisfy New York's 150-semester-credit-hours education requirement for Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure. (New York also requires successful completion of the CPA examination and qualifying professional experience. Students seeking licensure in another state should verify that state's requirements.*)

BS in Accounting – 121-Credit Option: Designed to students planning careers in private industry or government, as well as students who intend to complete the additional education required for CPA licensure through graduate study or other qualifying coursework.

If you’re pursuing another field of study but are interested in accounting, try a minor in Accounting. It pairs well with many other majors.
*CPA examination and licensure requirements vary by jurisdiction. Completion of an academic program does not by itself guarantee licensure. Students should consult the licensing authority in the state where they intend to practice.
An Accounting degree can take you to many places as most industries and businesses rely on accountants to help make important business decisions. Some of our recent graduates have started their careers with KPMG, EY, The Bonadio Group, and RTX. The Accounting program can also prepare you for graduate school in business or accounting if you wish to continue your education.
