With announced closure, learn how EC can help.arrow

Elmira College recently added a 3+1 option to its finance major, allowing students to receive an undergraduate and graduate degree within four years at EC.

The new option, commonly referred to as a 3+1 program, combines EC's current undergraduate finance program with the College's Master's in General Management, allowing students to complete a bachelor's degree in three years and a master's degree within one year.

"This is a really great option for students who know they want to continue their education beyond an undergraduate degree," said Ralph Dennis, assistant professor of finance. "They complete all four years, earning both degrees right here at Elmira College. Combined with our new CFA Institute Affiliation and undergraduate courses that qualify students to sit for the CFP® exam, Elmira College offers students an excellent start to a finance carer."

EC is one of only 31 schools in the Northeast with a CFP® Board-recognized undergraduate program that fulfills the education requirement to sit for the exam. The College also offers a CFP® Board-approved continuing education program, which allows professionals to complete the seven required, non-credit education courses online, at their own pace. In addition, the CFA Institute added EC's finance program to its University Affiliation Program earlier this month, positioning EC students well to obtain the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation, which has become the most respected and recognized investment credential in the world.

Students interested in learning more about the 3+1 option or EC's finance program, should contact Dr. Ralph Dennis, assistant professor of finance, at rdennis@elmira.edu.
