Important Student Health Insurance Policy Information

In order to assure the health care needs of the students are met during their stay at Elmira College, all full-time students are required to have health insurance. This coverage needs to meet Elmira College’s minimum insurance coverage requirements.

Full-time students are automatically enrolled in the Elmira College Student Health Insurance Plan. Students who are covered by their own health insurance must go online annually to waive the Elmira College Student Health Insurance Plan. The waiver must be submitted and approved in order for the charge to be reversed on the bill. If you already have health insurance coverage that meets Elmira College’s waiver criteria, you must submit a new, completed waiver petition each academic year. The deadline for submitting waivers for the 2023-2024 academic year is September 30, 2023.

The Elmira College Student Health Insurance Plan coverage year begins on August 1, 2023 and ends on July 31, 2024 for all students who enroll. The fee for year 2023-2024 will be $2,140 for Undergraduate and Graduate students. To view more information about the College’s Health Insurance Plan, please visit www.haylor.com/college/elmira

Please note: Your insurance policy must provide coverage while you attend Elmira College. Many health insurance carriers do not have networks in the Elmira area. Check with your primary insurance carrier to determine if your insurance can be utilized in Elmira, NY. Many health insurance plans only provide emergency or urgent care in this area. These plans do not meet the waiver criteria. Additionally, international students will be required to purchase the school health insurance. Travel insurance plans are not adequate and will not meet waiver standards.

If you have any questions regarding the Elmira College Student Health Insurance Plan requirement, please contact our servicing broker Haylor Freyer and Coon Inc. at (866) 535-0456 or by email: student@haylor.com. An Elmira College Student Health Insurance Plan representative will be available to help with the waiver process and to answer any questions on campus at Summer Registration in July.

Important: Submitting your insurance card and immunization records to the Clarke Health Center is not sufficient for waiving the College’s insurance plan. Both need to be done separately.
