Sports are about more than the players on a team. Learn the core skills to manage the business side of sports.
This program is for students who want to pair their love for sports and athletics with their interest in business management and marketing.
Given the reach of sports, from local communities to the national and global stages, there are many opportunities for students to find a fulfilling career.
People are needed to manage sports complexes, to market the team merch, and to coordinate the media with their eager questions. This is a fast-paced and growing industry that touches nearly everyone. The Sports Management program at EC provides you with the core business skills hiring managers are looking for, while also giving you leadership techniques specifically needed to manage the business side of sports.

Beyond the business basics, you'll learn effective communication and leadership skills focused on sports analytics, marketing, and strategic sports management. In this program, you’ll get out of the classroom to meet with staff at sport facilities throughout the region, and help these organizations successfully run live sporting events. We’ll have guest speakers from all areas of the sports industry, negotiate a mock transfer for international football athletes, and engage in mock NFL drafts to learn negotiation tactics. This hands-on and project-based approach will give you skills in information technology and information literacy. You’ll also learn about the societal and economic challenges related to sports activities and gain the tools needed to lead change.
You'll be able to pursue a range of roles, including Athletic Director, Facility Manager, Sports Agent, Public Relations Manager, and Marketing Consultant. You'll be ready to thrive whether your passion is youth activities, amateur sports, or collegiate and professional teams. Pair this program with other majors and minors like Business Administration; Media Studies, Communication, and Design; Art; Psychology; Finance; Accounting; and Digital Marketing to further increase your career options.
