The Forensic Science minor adds to the Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Clinical Lab Science, and Environmental Science programs, providing you with a professional pathway to an exciting career that is in high demand.
This program will pair your passion for science, analytical thinking, and methodology with an interest in criminology and the latest in crime-solving techniques. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, between 2021-2031, Forensic Lab Technician roles are expected to grow by 11%, much higher than the average for all occupations.
The forensic science field is quickly evolving with new technologies and techniques, increasing the importance that the science behind evidence collection is reliable. This program teaches you a strong foundation in the natural sciences with a focus on critical thinking. At the same time, you’ll learn about the criminal justice process, the latest technologies available, and how to explain and compare the collection of criminal evidence for use in criminal trials.
This is a pre-professional program that can lead to roles in the criminal justice system, particularly as a forensic science lab technician, and to private, state, and federal government forensic positions.
