With over 35 majors and minor areas of concentration, Elmira College lays the foundation for a diverse, cross discipline education, encouraging you to both specialize and explore.
At Elmira College, our faculty is passionate about seeing you succeed and excited to engage with you one-on-one or in small groups for research, classwork, and career advice at any time.
Research and hands-on work are critical in STEM careers and especially in environmental science.
We have active research projects on a variety of different topics that connect to environmental science including water quality, oyster domes, algae cultures, water and sediment transport, hurricane deposition and coastal ecosystems, contaminant transport in costal areas, green energy, data analytics, tree surveys, and the impact of new construction on erosion, deposition, and ecosystems. As an example, a past student and Dr. Trevor Browning investigated the potential for various types of green energy on campus using a weather station located on top of Carnegie Hall on campus. With this information, we can help guide environmental decisions made on campus. Come talk with us. Our doors are always open!
