As the world becomes increasingly data-reliant, companies are looking for graduates who can skillfully collect, clean, and analyze data, and clearly communicate their findings to stakeholders.
Data drives the modern world. The interdisciplinary Data Analytics minor at Elmira College is designed to build your problem-solving, mathematical modeling, computer programming, and statistics skills necessary to effectively analyze and visualize data. Nearly every profession can benefit from the tools provided by data analytics.
You’ll gain the skills needed to analyze large data sets and identify trends and patterns in data. You’ll work with programming languages such as Python and geographic information systems (GIS) software. The analysis and data visualizations you create can help businesses make better decisions.
Data Analytics is a growing field with a broad appeal. Depending on your interests, you could use your skills in accounting, business, finance, and research in the natural or social sciences. For example, you could help a marketing team analyze consumer behavior trends and help predict new sales opportunities. Or you could collect, clean, and analyze environmental research data. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects this field to grow by 36% between 2021-2031, which is much faster than the average job growth.
