With many high-paying roles in demand, cybersecurity offers you exciting opportunities. If you’re interested in technology, security, and problem-solving, then this is an ideal field as you’ll need to think critically and creatively to stay ahead of cybercriminals. This program will help foster analytical and problem-solving, communication and teamwork, and technology and security skills needed to succeed.
Industry experts will teach you a combination of the hard skills and soft skills necessary to work in this fast-growing industry. They’ll use discussions, projects, and real-world case studies to prepare you for industry certifications. You’ll learn about the different types of cyberattacks, how to defend against them, and how to recover from them. You’ll also learn about network security, cryptography, and other cybersecurity technologies.
This minor pairs well with other programs, such as Criminal Justice and IT Management, and sets you up for roles protecting critical infrastructure, customer data, and businesses. As these attacks become more sophisticated, you’ll become far more in demand. Even better, starting salaries for Information Security Analysts average $81k with no experience, and the unemployment rate in Cybersecurity dropped to zero percent in 2023.
