Art students have many great internship opportunities at Elmira.

Explore hands-on, real world learning at some of the area's nationally recognized organizations and those with deep roots in the community's history and culture.

In recent years, Elmira College students have completed internships with the Arnot Art Museum, The Rockwell Museum, National Soaring Museum, Corning Museum of Glass, Herbert F. Johnson Museum, Chemung County Historical Society, Community Arts of Elmira, and the Arts Council of the Southern Finger Lakes.

Scholarships

Portfolio-based Scholarship

Elmira College is excited to announce a new portfolio-based scholarship available to incoming freshmen Art majors! Selected students will receive $1,000 per year for up to four years, yielding a maximum total value of $4,000. This scholarship is open to all Art major freshmen, who can choose from concentrations in Studio Art, Digital Art and Graphic Design, Digital Art and Product Design, or Art Therapy, as well as to freshmen majoring in Visual Arts (Childhood Education).  

Students interested in this opportunity should prepare a digital portfolio of between 10 and 20 high quality images of their artwork. These images should be in-focus, well-lit, and have a neutral background. Any type of artwork can be included (2-D, 3-D, digital, etc.), and close-up detail shots are encouraged. Portfolios are uploaded via the applicant status portal and can be edited from the portal as well. Further upload instructions are available inside of the portfolio upload process.

1. Portfolios are available to upload/edit in the applicant status portal.

2. Select Edit Portfolio to upload files to your portfolio.

3. Under the Upload Media tab, further instructions for uploading are provided. Scroll to the bottom to find the Select Files button to upload.

4. Once files are uploaded, they will display in the Your Portfolio tab. From this tab, be sure to edit the details of your piece to include a title, year, size, medium and description of your work.
