An Update from Presidential Search Committee Chair Winner

Dear Elmira College Community,

As we approach the close of a busy academic year, I’m writing to share that the search committee has recently concluded two long—but fascinating—days in meetings with our semifinalist candidates for president of Elmira College. They represented a wide range of higher education leadership roles, institutional types and sizes, and areas of academic strength. Many spoke candidly about what drew them to Elmira: the strength of our community, the richness of our traditions, and the opportunity to lead a college that makes a clear, lasting difference in students’ lives.

After thoughtful discussion, the search committee has selected three candidates to advance to finalist visits, each of whom has enthusiastically accepted their invitations. We are now completing plans for those visits and look forward to spending two full days with each finalist providing an opportunity to further assess alignment with Elmira College's leadership needs and community priorities, and to give candidates a meaningful chance to experience our campus and the people who make it special.

As you can imagine, many individuals have and will contribute to the success of this search-- to whom I extend my sincere thanks. I’m also grateful to the dedicated members of the search committee, to Mary Barrett, Assistant Secretary to the Board of Trustees and to Vice President of Communications and Marketing Jen Swain for their continued partnership and hard work as we move into the finalist visit stage.

Best,

George H. Winner, Jr.
