Contact Penny Appenzellar for further questions regarding the Tuition Waiver and Tuition Exchange benefits.
Tuition Waiver (also known as Tuition Remission) is a program that allows eligible employees and their eligible* dependents to attend Elmira College credit-bearing classes full-time or part-time without paying the full tuition.
This is a tuition specific benefit. Only credit-bearing courses are covered by the Tuition Waiver program. Non-credit and certificate courses are not covered.
Fees, campus housing, food, books, and other educational expenses are not included. Exceptions to these policies may be authorized by the Vice President for Finance and Administration.
Employees should contact the Office of Human Resources to determine if they or their dependent are eligible* for the Tuition Waiver benefit. Qualification as an eligible employee begins on the first day of employment and ends on the last day of employment.
It is important to begin the process early by filling out the online application between September 1 and November 15 of the year prior to the dependent's expected enrollment.
Once eligibility* is approved, dependents should complete the Elmira College online application for admission and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Employees should also complete the Tuition Waver Request Form, which is also available on MyEC in the Employee tab.
Tuition Exchange is a program that allows certain eligible dependent children of eligible employees to attend one of approximately seven hundred other institutions without paying the full tuition.

Employees should contact the Office of Human Resources to determine if their dependent is eligible* for the Tuition Exchange benefit. Employees should also complete the Tuition Exchange Request Form, which is also available on MyEC in the Employee Tab.
Once eligibility* is approved, dependents must complete the Tuition Exchange application process online.
Also, the employee's dependent must be sure to apply for admission through each college's admission process and complete the FAFSA.
It is important to begin the college admission process early by applying to each desired college by their deadlines. The Tuition Exchange application may be completed as early as July 1 of the year prior to the dependent's expected enrollment.
*Being eligible for the Tuition Exchange benefit and applying for Tuition Exchange is NOT a guarantee that an employee’s dependent will receive this specific scholarship. The college that the dependent is applying to will determine if the scholarship is awarded.
