During this year’s Reunion and Family Weekend, Betsy Dalrymple MS ’76 will be awarded the Elmira College Distinguished Service Award. The committee selected Dalrymple for her 32 years of generous philanthropic support and her commitment to service, including as a member of the EC Board of Trustees.
“Betsy has served in numerous positions and volunteer roles over the years, investing in our community and our College,” shared Angela Tufillaro, Director of Major Gifts and Associate Vice President of Advancement. “She loves our region and looks for ways she can help improve it. She is always so generous to EC personally and through her position on the Anderson Foundation board. She has served our institution for decades, directly and quietly behind the scenes.”
Now retired, Dalrymple worked locally as an estate and trust manager for Sayles & Evans Law Firm and Chemung Canal Trust Company. Dalrymple extended her financial guidance and general wisdom to community organizations, providing governance and institutional direction.
At Elmira College, she is currently a President’s Council member, but she also served on the EC Board of Trustees from 2012-2021. She has been a generous donor throughout and has helped secure funding for EC through her work with the Anderson Foundation, a private grantmaking foundation based in Elmira. In 2015, she received the Elmira College President’s Council Award, which recognizes EC alumni who have remained in and contributed to the greater Elmira area.
Beyond EC, Dalrymple has shaped the Elmira-Corning region through philanthropic and board leadership. Her contributions include guiding regional arts programming at the Clemens Center, expanding elder care facilities at Woodbrook Assisted Living, and supporting local education and grant allocations.
Dalrymple has also contributed significantly to the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes.
Among her many accomplishments and recognitions, in 2013, Dalrymple was awarded the Jefferson Award for Community Service.
Dalrymple earned her bachelor's degree at Colgate University. She later attended the New York State Bankers Trust Tax School and earned a master's degree in Education at EC.
Alumni are invited to celebrate Dalrymple and other distinguished honorees by registering for Reunion and Family Weekend 2026. Take full advantage of the weekend’s events, including Octagon Fair; Tompkins Hall’s 100th Anniversary; meeting Dr. John F. Dolan, EC’s 16th President; and catching up with cherished friends.
