Chapter advisors and student leaders stand with this year’s group of Tri-Alpha inductees.
The Elmira College Iota Pi Chapter of the Alpha Alpha Alpha (Tri-Alpha) National Honor Society, established in 2024, recently inducted six students and one faculty member.
Tri-Alpha was founded on March 24, 2018, at Moravian College (now Moravian University) in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to recognize academic achievements, promote leadership, and provide support networks for first-generation college students.
The faculty member inducted at this year’s EC ceremony was Dr. Charles Mitchell, Professor of American Studies.
“When I went to college, I was, in fact, a 'first generation' college student,” shared Mitchell. “This was before the notion of first gen had been established. So it was an honor to be inducted as an honorary member into the Tri-Alpha honor society and to join our inducted students. As a faculty member, I have been keenly aware of the unique challenges first-generation students face and am truly in awe of my fellow inductees' and members' accomplishments.”
The list of inductees includes:
Angelina Caban ’26
Madeline Cieslak '28
Brianna Henley ’29
Victoria Titus ’28
Jazmine Traux '28
