With over 35 majors and minor areas of concentration, Elmira College lays the foundation for a diverse, cross discipline education, encouraging you to both specialize and explore.

Word wizzes at Elmira College who enjoy writing poetry can submit their work to compete for the Nancy Anne Walsh Poetry Prize. The prize recipient receives a $1,000 honorarium and publication in Callisophia, EC’s student-run publication that mixes art, writing, and research. But time is running out. Entries are due by February 15.
Students can submit up to three poems via the Prize submission form. Since judging will be blind, those submitting poems should remove their name from the entry before submitting. Entries with names will be invalid.
A panel will review the entries and announce the winner during the Annual EC Awards Banquet on March 26.
The prize celebrates the creative spirit of Nancy Anne Walsh, the daughter of EC Board of Trustees Member John M. “Jack” Walsh, III. When Nancy Walsh passed away, Jack Walsh and his family sought a meaningful way to honor her memory. Poetry had been a creative outlet for Nancy Walsh, so the prize helps keep her memory alive in the voices of emerging poets at EC.
