EC Again Named to ‘Best 391 Colleges’ by The Princeton Review

Elmira College was again named one of the nation's best undergraduate colleges and best regional colleges in The Princeton Review’s 2026 edition of The Best 391 Colleges.

The Princeton Review does not rank the colleges it includes in the guide.

"The colleges we profile in our 'Best Colleges' book are a truly select group. They constitute only about 15% of America's nearly 2,400 four-year institutions," said Rob Franek, Editor-in-Chief of The Princeton Review and the book's lead author. "We don't rank colleges based on our opinion of them, nor would we crown a school 'best' overall. It is what the students attending the colleges in this book tell us about their experiences at their schools that determines on which lists the schools appear in our book."

Some of the student quotes from the survey are featured in EC’s Princeton Review profile, including an appreciation for EC’s supportive campus culture.

“As one student sums up, people here 'go out of their way to help one another,’ adding, ‘I love the care and support; it is a community that respects one another.’”

Quotes also shared how EC professors "have an abundance of real work experience" and students find that "their passion for their field truly comes out when teaching and lecturing.”

One student said, “I don’t feel like just another number or a nameless student here.”

EC was also featured in The Princeton Review’s "2026 Best Regional Colleges," which salutes 631 colleges in seven geographic zones considered academically outstanding and well worth consideration. EC is included in the Northeast region.

Information on the methodology for the rankings and the student survey is on The Princeton Review’s website here.

The Princeton Review tallies rating scores (from 60 to 99) for the schools in The Best 391 Colleges in eight categories. The ratings are primarily based on institutional survey data. A few rating scores also factor in student survey data. The rating scores are published in the profiles of the schools in the book as well as in the website profiles.
