Elmira College Inducts Eight Students Into Tri-Alpha National Honor Society Chapter

Chapter advisors and student leaders stand with this year’s group of Tri-Alpha inductees.

The Elmira College Iota Pi Chapter of the Alpha Alpha Alpha (Tri-Alpha) National Honor Society, established last year, recently inducted 10 students, faculty, and staff.

Tri-Alpha was founded March 24, 2018, at Moravian College (now Moravian University) in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to recognize academic achievements, promote leadership, and provide support networks for first-generation college students.

"The Tri-alpha honor society provides a leadership platform for current first-generation college students," explained Dr. Larry Parker, Director of Social and Cultural Engagement. "Current officers of the honor society are first-generation college students who are succeeding at a high level and this honor society highlights their achievements. Tri-Alpha provides motivation and inspiration to inductees and other first-generation college students, showing them that the possibilities are endless with the support of fellow students, staff, and faculty."

The faculty and staff inducted at this year’s EC ceremony were Dr. Patricia Ireland, Elmira College Provost, and Dr. Kelly Smith, Assistant Professor of Human Services.
