Elmira College Welcomes New Dean Of Students

Elmira College welcomes Jacqueline Sironen as the new Dean of Students. Sironen brings more than 16 years of experience in student affairs. With her wealth of experiences and strong background, Sironen will ensure students receive diverse, interesting, and safe out-of-class programs, services, and activities so they not only excel academically but also socially.

“At EC, we cherish our tight-knit community and I’m looking forward to welcoming Jacqueline and seeing how her energy and expertise will help students find their place and thrive at EC,” shared Dr. Charles Lindsay, Elmira College President.

Before coming to Elmira, Sironen was Director of Student Engagement and HYPE Career Ready® at Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio. As the leader of Student Engagement she planned and executed events that celebrated Heidelberg’s traditions, advised student organizations, and supervised the student engagement team. At the same time, Sironen launched and oversaw HYPE, a co-curricular program that cultivates career competencies important to a student’s professional success. Sironen also served as Director of Student Activities at Three Rivers Community College where she planned and coordinated activities, developed an online student leader training course, and created a Gender and Identity Center.

Sironen is in the process of completing a doctorate in Education with a concentration in Diversity and Equity from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She has a master’s in Psychology from Central Connecticut State University and a bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Dayton.

A fan of theatre, music, and reading, Sironen also enjoys traveling. She’s already jumping into the EC purple and gold pride with a purple dog bed so her Siberian Husky, Bingley, can rest in style while in the office.
