Elmira College to Partner with Guthrie for On-Campus Healthcare Services

Elmira College and Guthrie have announced a new partnership for on-campus health services that ensures quality healthcare services for EC students.

Through the agreement, Guthrie medical professionals will provide primary health services to all EC students at the EC Clarke Health Center on campus.

The Guthrie medical team will include a nurse practitioner, a licensed practical nurse, and a patient service specialist.

“At Elmira College, we prioritize the health and well-being of our students,” said Dr. Charles Lindsay, Elmira College President. “This is reflected in the goals of our 2023-2028 Strategic Plan, including objectives to increase community partnerships and ensure our students’ mental and physical well-being. That’s why we’re excited to partner with Guthrie, whose trusted medical practitioners will provide efficient and consistent expert care. Importantly, this care will continue in the Clarke Health Center facility on campus, giving students easy access to these services.”

“Guthrie is thrilled to partner with Elmira College to provide student health services,” said Dr. Edmund Sabanegh, President and CEO of Guthrie Clinic. “As a local well-established, integrated health system and teaching facility, we take pride in our long-standing legacy of supporting academic institutions. This partnership underscores our dedication to providing comprehensive health care services and enhancing the well-being of students. We look forward to fostering a healthier campus community together.”

Initially, the Guthrie team will be available at the CHC from 8:30 a.m. to Noon, Monday-Friday, which, based on historical usage reports, are the most common hours students use the facility. Depending on demand, the CHC hours may be expanded.

Students typically schedule appointments at the CHC, often for the administration of prescription medications. Based on availability, the Guthrie team will provide walk-in treatment for minor illnesses or injuries and some medical screenings.

Students and campus community members in need of emergency services will continue to leverage off-campus urgent care facilities and the local emergency room.
