With over 35 majors and minor areas of concentration, Elmira College lays the foundation for a diverse, cross discipline education, encouraging you to both specialize and explore.
The Elmira College circle, or chapter, of Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK), the National Leadership Honor Society, inducted 25 Elmira College students on February 17.
The Society recognizes achievement in scholarship; athletics; campus or community service, social and religious activities, campus government; journalism, speech, and the mass media; and the creative and performing arts. Emphasis is placed on the development of the whole person, both as a member of the college community and as a contributor to a better society.
Alumna Michele Johnson MSEd ’11 gave the keynote address during the induction ceremony.
“I know you’re a diverse group that has knocked it out of the park academically while at the same time exemplifying the leadership values of ODK across campus,” said Johnson to the inductees. “The ODK leadership values of Collaboration, Inclusivity, Integrity, Scholarship, and Service will be the foundation from which you grow and build when you start your careers.”
Omicron Delta Kappa was founded on December 3, 1914, at Washington and Lee University, Lexington, Virginia. The Elmira College circle was established on May 21, 1995. The honor society is advised by Sydney Stringham ’19, MSEd ’21, MS ’23, Director of Alumni Engagement; Dr. Samantha Bidwell, Assistant Professor of Chemistry; and Dr. Elizabeth Lambert, Vice President of Campus Life and Dean of Students.
