With over 35 majors and minor areas of concentration, Elmira College lays the foundation for a diverse, cross discipline education, encouraging you to both specialize and explore.
Today is Elmira Everlasting! Alumni, students, employees, and friends of Elmira College are invited to join their friends, classmates, and colleagues in this annual day of giving.
Once again the day includes a bit of fun with the Class Challenge, where each class competes to generate the greatest number of gifts. While the title of “Most Everlasting Class” will be won by a few, everyone can feel good in the knowledge that they are supporting the strong academic programs, exceptional undergraduate research, study abroad opportunities, and supportive community environment at Elmira College.
“Being an international student can be an exciting but challenging experience,” said Ryan Trenholm ’25, Class Vice President. “Adjusting to a new culture and academic environment can be overwhelming. However, choosing the right college can make all the difference. When you choose a college that supports diversity and inclusivity, you will feel more welcomed and valued. Such institutions provide resources and services that cater to the unique needs of international students, such as cultural clubs and mentorship programs. These help you integrate into the college community and feel comfortable in your new environment. Elmira College stays true to these values, which in turn has made EC a home away from home for myself and many other international students. Support from the Elmira College community, past and present, will assist in enhancing EC’s ability to help students succeed, no matter their background.”
For the Challenge, the number of gifts will be tracked throughout the day, with updates posted on social media. The amount of the gift doesn’t matter – whether someone from the Class of 1989 gives $19.89 or $198.90 or $1,989, every gift counts.
“Remember, making a gift, large or small, makes an immediate and direct impact for our students and we can’t do that without you,” said Lindsay Baker, Director of Annual Giving.
Again this year the campus community, particularly current students, can get involved by placing a pennant in their favorite spot on campus. The EC pennants were distributed to the campus community ahead of time, and on April 26, those with a pennant are encouraged to mark their favorite spot on campus, take a photo or video of their location, and post the image or video to social media, being sure to include #ElmiraEverlasting.
Don’t have a pennant or aren’t near the campus? That’s OK. Share what makes Elmira College ‘YOUR PLACE.’ Is it a location, like a special building or bench, a tradition, or is it the people you met along the way? Share what you love about EC on social media and be sure to include #ElmiraEverlasting.
