On Saturday, March 25, Elmira College students, faculty, staff, and community members are invited to “dance around the world” during this year’s Elmira College Dance Marathon (ECDM). The annual fundraising event will be from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Speidel Gymnasium, offering more than burnt calories. Money raised during ECDM will benefit the Children's Miracle Network (CMN) at Arnot Ogden Medical Center.
This year, the theme is “Travel Around the World,” and the public is welcome to participate.
“Dance Marathon gives the EC Community a chance to learn about experiences that families have thanks to the money raised in previous years for the Children’s Miracle Network at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. It also invites the community to join together to save children’s lives,” said Alexis Wyckoff ’23, ECDM Co-Overall Director and Partnership Executive.
Organizers hope to raise $10,000 and are seeking more dance teams and donations.
"It's exciting that the EC community can experience Dance Marathon as it was a couple of years ago," said James Blair '23, ECDM Finance Executive. "We have a lot planned and a lot of hope for this year's event. With the right steps, I believe we can reach our goal."
“This is my fourth year participating in Dance Marathon and my second year being an executive. My favorite part of the event every year is hearing the families share their experiences and how much this event means to them. I really hope that everyone will join us and donate to this amazing cause,” said Paige Stilts ’23, ECDM Co-Overall Executive and Hospital Relations Executive.
Last year, ECDM participants raised $4,888 and, since it was founded in 2015, the event has raised more than $60,000 for CMN at Arnot Health. These funds help address high-risk maternity and newborn intensive care needs.
Those interested in participating in ECDM or donating to support CMN can visit the ECDM webpage. Registration is free and those who fundraise at least $15 will receive a t-shirt.
“Throughout the two years I’ve participated in ECDM, I have seen the impact that the Children’s Miracle Network has had on many families and it's incredible! We all know someone who has benefited from this organization. If everyone donated a dollar, we could reach our goal, and most importantly, a single dollar helps to change the lives of many children!” said Hailey Clancy ’24, ECDM Morale Executive.
