At the recent Chemung County Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Ceremony, Dr. Alison M. Wolfe, Business & Economics Division Chair and Director of the Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Business School, and alumnae JulieAnn Ellison Delgrosso ’79 received awards that recognize their commitment to the area community.

Wolfe received the ATHENA® Leadership Award, which was established by ATHENA International and is presented annually by chambers of commerce, women’s organizations, and universities locally and abroad. Inspired by the strong, courageous, and wise goddess of Greek mythology, the award recognizes a person for professional excellence, community service, and actively assisting women in their attainment of professional excellence and leadership skills.

When accepting the award at the ceremony, Wolfe said, “Like every professional, I do not exist in a bubble. Nobody ever achieves anything alone. And in my case, I see a clear line between what is happening on this night and all the outstanding mentors and colleagues who have inspired, molded, and guided me.”

She continued, “As I journey onward from here, I know that my mentors and colleagues will continue to guide, support, and ignite me.”

JulieAnn Ellison Delgrosso ’79 and her husband, Mark Delgrosso, received The Community Legacy Award. This award celebrates those who go to extraordinary measures to positively impact their community, city, and region, and whose contributions will continue to reap benefits for decades to come. According to the Chamber of Commerce, the Delgrossos are well known for their holiday spirit, philanthropic work, and involvement with non-profits, all of which have consistently demonstrated success in improving the quality of life for residents of Chemung County for the past 30 years.

“On behalf of the Elmira College Community, I want to congratulate Alison, JulieAnn and Mark, and the rest of the Chamber award recipients,” said Dr. Charles Lindsay, Elmira College President. “Their commitment to the local community is inspiring. We’re grateful for their tireless efforts to help others and proud to count them as members of the EC family.”
