Accepted Student Recognition Day 4/6/24 arrow

Recently, 12 students received the 2022 Moser Freshman Prize, awarded during the annual Elmira College Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society induction ceremony.

Each year, the Moser Freshman Prize is presented to the student or students achieving the highest grade point average at the end of the first year of full-time academic work.

The Prize was established by Raymond and Nancy Crane Moser '34 to acknowledge and support the academic tradition at Elmira College.

A little about this year's recipients:

  • Ashton Craver '25 is a Nursing major from Greene, New York. He serves as a supplemental instruction leader as part of a new pilot program at Elmira College and is a Sustainability Scholarship recipient.

  • Trishelle Hall '25 is a Nursing major from Elmira, New York. She is a recipient of the Founder Scholarship and serves as an Anatomy and Physiology tutor.

  • Kaela Howard '25 is a Pre-Medical Biology major from Endwell, New York. She plays on the Women’s soccer team and is an associate member of the Beta Beta Beta Biology honor society. She is also Secretary for Circle K, a Gold Key tour guide, and a peer tutor in the Writing Center.

  • Allyssa Murrelle '25 is a Nursing major from Sayre, Pennsylvania. She is an Elmira College Key Award recipient and was recently invited by the Admissions Office to give a speech to senior high school students who received the Key Award.

  • Maya Powers '25 has not yet declared a major. She is from Worcester, New York, and received the Elmira Scholar Award. She is the Editor and Social Media Chair for Circle K and a Gold Key member.

  • McKenzie Schmidt '25 is a Nursing major from Baldwinsville, New York. An Elmira College Key Award recipient, she is a member of the women’s ice hockey team. She is also a member of the Nursing Club and the Active Minds club, which provides a safe space for students to talk about mental health issues among students.

  • Alexa Sitzer '25 is an Adolescence Education and Chemistry double major from Sayre, Pennsylvania. A recipient of the Corning Section American Chemical Society and Elmira College Key awards, Alexa is active on campus. She is a supplemental instruction leader, which is part of a new pilot program. She is also an Orientation Leader and a member of the TEACH and Circle K clubs.

  • Sarah Steflik '25 is an Actuarial and Financial Science major from Endicott, New York. She is on the Women’s Soccer Team as well as a Gold Key tour guide, Treasurer for the Circle K club, and Secretary for TEACH club.

  • Jeremiah Steinhilber '25 is a Psychology and Human Services double major from Sundown, New York. He serves as Vice President of the Rotaract club and is a member of the EC Esports team. He is also a Resident Assistant and Writing Center tutor.

  • Haley Sullivan '25 is a Speech and Language Disabilities major from Groton, New York. A recipient of the Founder Scholarship, Haley is a member of Art Club, Rotaract Club, Speech Club, and the Elmira College Honors Society. She recently began working as a peer writing tutor in the Writing Center.

  • Ryan Trenholm '25 is a Biology major from Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia, Canada. A recipient of the CRC Basic Chemistry Prize, Ryan is a member of the Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society and plays on the Men’s Baseball team.

  • Cristy-Lee Webster '25 is a Nursing major from Elmira, New York. She is a supplemental instruction leader as part of a new pilot program at Elmira College.
