Students, faculty, and staff recently joined Dr. Charles Lindsay, Elmira College President, as he cut a ceremonial ribbon and officially opened the new I.D.E.A. (Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity, and Access) Center.

“This newly renovated space provides students with a supportive, student-focused place where they can gather in a casual setting,” said Larry Parker, Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. “It will also serve as a meeting and program space for student clubs and a space for special speakers and events.”

The I.D.E.A. Center was made possible thanks to Dr. Harold Munnings, who helped fund the renovations as a gift in honor of his wife, Moneira Ferguson-Munnings ’91. The Munnings are from Nassau, Bahamas and Moneira frequently talks about her positive experiences as a student at Elmira College.

The I.D.E.A. Center is currently open daily between 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and is located on the first floor of the Campus Center. Starting soon the Center will be open in the evenings as well.
