Beginning with the Fall 2021 Term, Elmira College students can choose to study at the University of the Bahamas during any of EC's three terms. Students at the University of the Bahamas have the same opportunity to study at EC.

The agreement between the two institutions, signed earlier this week, provides EC and UB students with a wider range of options for achieving their educational, professional and research goals.

"This is an excellent opportunity for not only EC and UB students, but also the institutions," said Dr. Corey Stilts, provost at Elmira college. "It opens the door for collaboration on curriculum and joint research activities, enhances cultural enrichment, and expands offerings for guest lectures and seminars."

EC has a long history with the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, having offered scholarships to Bahamian high school students for many years through an annual competition sponsored by Sunshine Insurance. In addition, the Gerace Research Centre on San Salvador Island has hosted EC students for Term III and summer research for years.

"Our history and connection with the Bahamas makes this agreement a natural fit," said Dr. Charles Lindsay, president of Elmira College. "Bahamian students have been attending EC for years, making meaningful contributions on campus and as alumni. We have over 100 EC alumni living in the Bahamas, including current EC Trustee, Franon Wilson."

EC students interested in learning more about the new study abroad opportunity should contact Leslie Daloia, senior associate director of admissions, at ldaloia@elmira.edu.
