The Elmira College President's Council awarded its highest honors, The President's Council Award and the Stand Energy Prize, during a ceremony held May 13 in Peterson Chapel.

The Stand Energy Prize was presented to Farrah Fiacco '21, a legal studies, criminal justice, and psychology triple major from Berkshire, New York. Farrah interned with the Tioga County District Attorney during the 2020-2021 academic year. She has been involved in the Elmira College Pre-Law Club, Mock Trial Team, Turning Point Chapter, Peer Tutoring Program, Gold Key Society, Phi Delta Phi, Phi Eta Sigma, Psi Chi, The EC Chiclettes, and EC Women's Wrestling, as well as Adult League Ice Hockey at the First Arena. Farrah will be attending Albany Law School in the fall. She aspires to become a prosecutor upon completion of her J.D. and hopes to one day be elected as a judge.

The President's Council Award was presented to alumna Anita J. Lewis M.S.'13. The Award recognizes outstanding Elmira College graduates who have distinguished themselves and the College by exemplary service in the College's greater community, and who, by giving generously of their time and talent, has improved the quality of the community.

A pillar in the Elmira community, Lewis graduated from Elmira College with a Master of Science in General Management in 2013. She is best known for her integral work with children, families and the public as the vice president of community and donor relations at Chemung County Economic Opportunity Program, Inc. In addition, Lewis serves her community as a member of Kennedy Valve's Community Advisory Panel, Office for the Aging Advisory Board Member, Chemung County Human Rights Committee Member, Community Foundation Board Member and as the Board President of Chemung County ARC.

Lewis is well-known for her musical ability and has been a musician in the community for over 20 years. She is the lead organizer for the Southern Tier Jazz Festival and participated in the 2014 Chemung County Rotary Club's "Dancing with Our Stars" event. She brings a youthful, positive energy to everything she does, serving as an inspiration to others in the community.
