Each year, the Elmira College Board of Trustees Prize is presented by the Trustees to students whose college experience demonstrates continual growth and development academically, socially, or in service to the College community. This year three students were awarded the Prize and today we feature Avery Yeates '21.

"It is an honor to receive The Board of Trustees Prize from the Elmira College Board of Trustees," said Yeates. "My time here at Elmira has connected me with so many great people who have inspired me to improve both in and out of the classroom. My professors and fellow club officers are just a few of the wonderful people I've been able to meet. Getting involved on campus has been one of the best decisions I've ever made."

Yeates, a mathematics and musical theatre double major, is a Gold Key Society member, served as an Orientation Leader Executive Leader for her junior and senior years, is president of the EC Naturals, secretary of EC's Rotaract Club, treasurer for the EC Concert Ensemble, and treasurer for Pi Mu Epsilon.

Nolan Oxley, associate director of admissions, who nominated Yeates shares, "Avery has been one of our 'go-to' tour guides these past three years. She has a unique ability to relate and connect with students from all different backgrounds and academic interests."

After graduating, Yeates plans to work in actuarial mathematics in her hometown of Syracuse, New York.
