As the new academic year gets underway, Elmira College is proud to announce two new programs to help parents stay informed and connected with the College and their student's experience.

The Eagle's Nest, a parent engagement portal designed for prospective and current parents/families, debuted on September 14. The web portal features a newsfeed, campus calendar for events and important deadlines, and communities for areas like residence life, athletics, and financial aid. The portal also can be used for online registration for Admissions and other events and provides users the ability to sign up for push notifications for announcements and a newsletter, sent on a frequency the user selects.

"The Eagles Nest portal is an invaluable tool for parent communication," said Dr. Elizabeth Lambert, vice president of enrollment management and student life. "We understand the important role parents play in the college decision process and throughout a student's collegiate journey. In order for families to fully support their students, they need to be informed about what is going on at EC in a timely way. The Eagle's Nest now provides a direct communication channel with the information that is most relevant to them."

Parents and family members can sign up for an account by visiting the portal home page.

In addition to the launch of the Eagle's Nest, the College is launching a parent liaison program, assigning a campus life liaison to the parents/guardians of new students. The goal of the parent liaison initiative is to better partner with the families of new EC students, helping them navigate the many offices and departments that work to support a student's experience at EC.

"A campus life liaison is an EC staff member, coach, or administrator who has volunteered to be a 'point person' for a parent or guardian, providing them a direct contact for any questions or concerns," explained Lambert. "There are times when a parent/guardian does not know who might be the best person or office to contact with an issue. Now they will be able to reach out to their campus life liaison, who will be able to assist by answering their questions or making a more appropriate referral."

Campus life liaisons will be reaching out to parents in the coming week.
