Join the Elmira College Women & Gender Studies Division once again this January for the annual Reinstein Symposium! From January 20-24th, the EC Community is invited to join in open discussion about the topic for this year: Reproductive Care, Social Sciences, and Health Care.


Events during the week include:

  • Keynote Address, by Brittany Morin-Mazzadri '08:

"Symptoms and Systems: the Life and Social Sciences of Health Care"

Tuesday, January 20th in the GTL Lecture Hall at 2pm; an opening address and discussion will kick off the symposium, focusing on Gender and Health Care Inequalities.


  • Student Research Panel, held by Dr. Martha Easton:

Students will present their research on topics related to the Symposium's topic.

Thursday, January 22nd in Watson 215 at 11:30am; all are welcome to attend and engage with the work presented.


  • Vagina Anatomy Lecture, held by FIGHT Club:

A lecture on the anatomy of female reproductive systems, as well as an examination of the anatomical structure of the human vagina.

Thursday, January 22nd in the IDEA Center at 3:30pm; all are invited to attend.


  • Letter Writing Campaign, held by Amnesty Elmira:

A free resource for the EC Community to learn about and engage with the topic of reproductive rights and sexual abuse in Sudan.

Thursday, January 22nd in the GTL Lobby, from 1pm-11pm; all community members are invited to visit, but it is requested that visitors respect the library's open/public hours.
