Commencement

It's a time to celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of our Soaring Eagles.

Commencement 2024 will be held Sunday, May 19, 2024 on the lawn of Carnegie Hall. You don't have to buy a ticket to attend, but should arrive early enough to make sure you can get a good seat. Graduates and their families are treated to a reception with light refreshments after the ceremony.

The best parking is in the lot on 6th Street, behind Harris Hall and Watson Hall, and in the parking lots behind Alumni Hall. Our Building and Grounds staff is available to give you a ride on golf carts to the seating area if needed. Restrooms are available in both Harris Hall and Kolker Hall.

Julia Reinstein '28 Symposium

The Women's and Gender Studies Program organizes the Julia Reinstein Symposium each year. The event is made possible by a bequest from college alumna Julia Reinstein '28, a feminist, early lesbian activist, and strong supporter of women's issues. A keynote speaker is invited in cooperation with Students Against Sexism and Stereotypes (SASS).

Dr. Anita B. Ogden Symposium

Dr. Anita B. Ogden, a nationally known nursing leader, was Director of Elmira College Nurse Education Program from 1989 until her death in 2000. Dr. Ogden considered complementary therapies to professional nursing care and an important adjunct to traditional medicine. Primary funding for support of the symposium comes from an endowment established in Dr. Ogden’s memory that is supported by colleagues, alumnae and friends.
