Attend Alumni Zoom Session With Hugo Award-Winning Editor Sheila Williams ’78

Elmira College alumna Sheila Williams ’78 will share her career highlights during a special Spring Zoom session at 7:00 p.m. EDT., Tuesday, May 14. The event is open to anyone in the EC Community and the general public.

Williams is a multiple Hugo Award-winning editor of Asimov’s Science Fiction magazine and winner of the 2017 Kate Wilhelm Solstice Award for distinguished contributions to the science fiction and fantasy community.

Williams started at Asimov’s in June 1982 as an editorial assistant. Over the years, she was promoted to different editorial positions at the magazine. She also served as the executive editor of Analog from 1998 until 2004. With Rick Wilber, she is also the co-founder of the Dell Magazines Award for Undergraduate Excellence in Science Fiction and Fantasy. This annual award has been bestowed on the best short story by an undergraduate student at the International Conference on the Fantastic since 1994.

In addition, Sheila is the editor and co-editor of 26 anthologies. Her newest anthology, Entanglements: Tomorrow’s Lovers, Families, and Friends, was published as part of the MIT Press Twelve Tomorrow series.
