Medaille Student Support

We know that Medaille University’s closing has left you with many questions about your future. Elmira College faculty and staff are here to help. Our small, close-knit campus community means personalized attention as you make this unexpected transition. And that support doesn’t stop once you’re here. We pride ourselves on the close, supportive relationships our students develop with each other and our faculty and staff. Elmira is Our Place…and we invite you to make it yours.

Ready to join the Soaring Eagles family? Here are four simple steps for a smooth transition to EC:

  • Complete our brief Medaille Transition Form

  • Upload your current Medaille transcripts (as well as those from any other institutions you’ve attended).

  • Upload a copy of your current Medaille financial aid award letter (or other documentation of gift aid provided by Medaille). This will enable us to best meet your financial need.

  • Receive your admission and financial aid information!

Transfer Admissions Counselor Jenn Robinson, jrobinson@elmira.edu or (607) 735-1705, is ready to answer your questions and provide personalized help as you make the transition to EC.

FAQs

What tuition and fees will I pay?

We will work with you to achieve a similar net cost for tuition and mandatory fees as well as room and board compared to your anticipated costs of enrolling at Medaille University.

I’m a HEOP, TRIO/Reach student, do I get to maintain that at Elmira?

Elmira is not a HEOP, TRIO/Reach school but we will review your financial aid package and work with you on your financial aid options to maximize the amount of gift aid available to you.

When are my transition materials due to Elmira?

We’ve developed a simplified process to facilitate your transition to Elmira and encourage you to provide your materials as soon as possible. Not only will you get your decision sooner, this will also allow our team to help you register for the courses that fulfill your degree requirements.

Will all of my Medaille credits transfer?

Medaille students in good academic standing at Medaille University are eligible for admission to a similar program at Elmira. Courses and grades accepted for credit at Medaille University will transfer as credit to Elmira College. You will work one-on-one with Dr. Dan Kjar to help with the transition.

I’m a student-athlete. Can I compete at Elmira?

EC offers 16 varsity athletics teams, including seven men's and seven women's teams and two co-ed teams. If you're interested in playing, let us know on your Medaille Transition Form, or contact a coach directly.

When would I choose my courses for Fall 2023?

We recommend submitting your transfer materials as soon as possible. Once your transition materials have been submitted, Dr. Kjar will work with you to get registered and provide guidance for the Fall 2023 term and beyond.

Am I guaranteed housing at Elmira?

Yes. While Elmira is a residential college and generally undergraduate students are required to live on campus, this residency requirement is waived for Medaille students transitioning under the Teach-Out Agreement. However, it's in the residence halls where you will make friends and find support systems that can last a lifetime. EC has five traditional residence halls plus apartment-style options in the Twin Towers and the Cottages. Visit our Housing page to learn more about our residence halls. Special housing options include gender inclusive and pet-friendly residence halls.

I’m a senior. What if I can’t get into a course that I need to graduate on time in Spring 2024?

We give priority to seniors to complete their coursework on time.

When is Commencement 2024?

June 2, 2024

What’s the easiest way to check out the campus?

Whether or not you’ve completed the transition form, campus visits can be arranged through our visitation page. During your visit you’ll be able to sit in on a class, meet with current students from your program of interest and connect with available faculty within your major.
