2014 Annual Reinstein Symposium at Elmira College Keynote Speaker NYS Appellate Judge Elizabeth Garry

Elizabeth GarryJudge Elizabeth Garry, New York State Associate Justice of the Appellate Division, Third Division, will be the keynote speaker for the Annual Reinstein Symposium at Elmira College. She will present “Women and Judges: Now and Then.”

Judge Garry was the second woman ever to be elected to her position within the Sixth Judicial District. She attended Alfred University and Albany Law School, and has held positions as Law Clerk to the Hon. Irad S. Ingrahm and Town Judge of New Berlin.

This event will take place at 4:00 p.m. at Peterson Chapel, located in Cowles Hall, and is free and open to the public.

ABOUT THE REINSTEIN SYMPOSIUM

Julia Reinstein ’27 was a feminist, lesbian activist, and a strong supporter of women's education. Her generous bequest to the College founded the Women's and Gender Studies Program, which sponsors the symposium. The 2014 Annual Reinstein Symposium was held the week of February 2nd, and the theme this year was "Transitions of Gender in a Changing World."
