American Studies Learning Outcomes

Students who major in American Studies develop strong skills in critical and analytical thinking as well as written and oral communication - skills that are in great demand among potential employers and essential to informed engagement with the world. Students will develop an appreciation for nuance and paradox, a recognition of the complexity of human history and culture, and an awareness of the rich connections between America in the 21st century and the ghosts of America’s past. Oh - and they will also read, watch, and listen to some interesting stuff.

Note: Learning outcomes are subject to regular review and revision.
