Dr. Lauren Shaw, associate professor of Hispanic Studies, recently presented a research paper at the International Conference of Film at the University of Carlos III in Madrid.

Her paper titled, “Reason and Affect in Documentary Film on Latin American Migration" formed part of a panel on migration and identity in film, which she shared with an Ecuadorian filmmaker and a film scholar from Sorbonne University.

Earlier this year, Dr. Shaw co-edited a book on a similar topic, titled Telling Migrant Stories: The Latin American Diaspora in Documentary Film. The book, co-edited with Esteban E. Loustaunau, associate professor of Spanish at Assumption College, is available through University Press of Florida.
