Professor Vincent Howell

Vincent Howell, adjunct professor in strategic planning, project management and business ethics, recently published an article in Ceramic Industry magazine.

The article, titled “Workforce Development: Closing the Skills Gap Now and in the Future,” focuses on workforce development and closing the skills gap in the manufacturing sector.

In the article, Howell highlights the importance organizations developing an ongoing workforce development strategy, which is foundational for a company maintaining its market advantage. To achieve this, the company must take a proactive stance in defining methods to attract the right employees and build the skill sets required for ongoing success. This will include such planning considerations as technology, academia, industry, and government collaboration, involving learning solutions companies, and utilization of apprentice programs.

Howell has 40 years of manufacturing engineering and management experience spanning process industries and electronics manufacturing. He retired from Corning Incorporated as manager, intellectual asset protection for the LCD glass manufacturing business.
