Purple ribbon Project

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness month, and the Elmira College Enactus team, is partnering with Catholic Charities of Chemung and Schuyler Counties to support the “Shine the Light on Domestic Violence” event this Saturday, October 7 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., in Eldridge Park.

In preparation for the event, Enactus, along with the Elmira College Students Against Sexism and Stereotypes (SASS) and Active Minds organizations, will be hosting a table on behalf of Catholic Charities during Octagon Fair. At the table, located near Gibson Theatre, there will be a banner for students, families, and community members to place handprints, signatures or supportive messages. The banner will be on display later that evening at Eldridge Park.

Also, students will be wrapping purple ribbons around trees on campus and the Cowles Hall cupola will be lit in purple throughout the month of October. Additionally, students are planning a day to wear purple attire in support of domestic violence awareness.
