Jeff Ahlgrim ' 18 Soaring for Success

This week’s #SoaringToSuccess story spotlights business administration major, Jeff Ahlgrim ’18. Jeff spent his summer posting, creating, and tracking social media for a healthcare staffing company in Massachusetts.

We “liked it” and got the full download from him…

Over the summer I was hired at a healthcare staffing company as a content and social media marketing intern at Barton Associates in Peabody, Massachusetts. Before I got the position, I worked with Julie Fielding and Matt Guagliardo in EC’s Office of Career Services to get my resume ready and to prepare for the interview.

Once I got the internship, my main task was to increase the company’s social media following by creating relevant and interesting content. Using skills and strategies I learned in my various marketing classes, I increased the company's followership on Instagram from about 50 people to over 400 in one summer. I feel this internship prepared me for the rest of my career in business because I was able to experience first-hand how a corporation works on a day-to-day basis.

Along the way, I also learned a great deal about social media marketing, made many new business contacts, and opened the door for future job opportunities.
