The EC Ceramics Department is partnering with Catholic Charities of Chemung and Schulyer Counties for the second annual Community Throwing Night to End Hunger on Thursday, September 28 fro 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Fassett Commons.

The community is invited to this fun and lighthearted bowl-throwing competition between local business owners. Come cheer on the participants while students and local artists demonstrate how to throw and spin handmade bowls.

Some of the local competitors include: Jeremy Drake, Drake’s Heating & Air Conditioning, Colleen LaDelia, Just Breathe Yoga, Mark and Barb McClure, McClure’s NY Deli, Julie McInerny, Notre Dame High School, and Marc Stemerman, Greek Peak & Chemung Supply.

The bowls created at this special throwing event will benefit the Catholic Charities 12th Annual Empty Bowls Luncheon on Thursday, October 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Elmira College Campus Center.

As the largest fundraiser for the Catholic Charities’ Samaritan Center, this event coincides with World Food Day, which helps to raise awareness of the effects of hunger on our community. For more information, or to purchase tickets for the luncheon, please contact Catholic Charities at 607-734-9784 or visit www.cs-cc.org.
