As the summer continues, our #SoaringToSuccess series heats up to spotlight the internships our students are completing this season. This week features Kyra McDonald'18, a psychology major with a business administration minor, who is starting off her career in marketing and advertising with an internship at The Agency Marketing Group.

Let’s learn more from Kyra…

This summer I have been given the opportunity to intern for The Agency Marketing Group in my hometown city of Charlotte, North Carolina, and so far, I am loving it. The Agency works with local companies as well as national brands to achieve their marketing objectives and help their businesses thrive. They offer many different marketing services including social media management, logo design, website development, and traditional advertising. More importantly, The Agency provides peace of mind to the clients they work with by allowing them to run their businesses without having to worry much about the marketing side. The Agency has that covered.

Since The Agency has so many clients and provides so many services, every day at the office is different and there is always something to do. As a marketing intern, I work directly with the social media managers and complete various assignments related to creating content for client’s social media accounts. My tasks can include anything from writing a blog post to doing research to scheduling Facebook or Twitter posts. Although it sounds like The Agency is all work, they know how to have fun and there is no such thing as a boring day at their office, which is located in the artsy district of NoDa (short for North Davidson).

I am excited to take what I’ve learned throughout numerous psychology and business courses during my time at Elmira College and apply it to the real world. I am looking forward to continuing my time at The Agency, but what I look most forward to is learning everything I can about the ins and outs of a marketing agency and being able to take that knowledge to the next step in my career. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and the experience it will provide me with as I start pursuing a career in marketing and advertising.
