As commencement and graduation season approaches, we are continuing a new series, titled, “Where Are They Now?” We are catching up with alumni from the Class of 2016, finding out what they are doing today, and sharing their advice for the graduating class, just one year after walking across the stage themselves.

This week features Magee Barney '16. Magee is working at the National Institutes of Health in Washington, D.C.

Let’s head to the nation’s capitol and hear more from Magee…

Magee Barney

A week after graduation I moved to Washington, D.C., and started working at The National Institutes of Health (NIH). NIH is a biomedical research facility, an agency of the United States Department of Health and Human Services; it is the primary agency of the United States government responsible for biomedical and health-related research.

I currently work as a visa coordinator in the Division of International Services. We assist in bringing the world's top researchers to NIH to collaborate on biomedical research.

A piece of advice for the class of 2017 is to use the Elmira connections you make throughout your four years. While at Elmira College, I worked with the Director of the Multicultural Center and International Services and the Summer Orientation Advisor. Now I work with her at NIH.
