The community is invited to participate in the annual JDRF (formerly Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) OneWalk this Sunday, May 7 on the Elmira College campus.

This event, hosted by the Elmira College Student Alumni Council and the JDRF Rochester Chapter, hopes to raise more than $50,000 to support research to cure, prevent, and treat Type 1 diabetes and its complications. This type of diabetes, previously known as juvenile diabetes, is estimated to effect as many as three million Americans, more than 80% of which are adults, according to JDRF.

There will be three different walking routes including a three-mile, one-and-half-mile, and a one-mile walk. Registration starts at 9 a.m. outside the Elmira College Campus Center, with the walk beginning at 10 a.m. In addition to the walk, there will be music and a zumba workout.

Participants can register with any donation amount through the JDRF website
