The College Ceramics Department is teaming up with Catholic Charities and local business owners for the first Community Throwing Night to End Hunger on Thursday, September 29 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Fassett Commons.

This lighthearted bowl-throwing competition is free to attend, and Elmira College students and local artists will be on hand to demonstrate how to spin handmade bowls.

Not interested in making something? Come cheer on your favorite participant and see who can spin the best handmade bowl! Check out the list of competitors at:

The bowls created at the event will benefit the Catholic Charities 11th Annual Empty Bowls Luncheon being held on Thursday, October 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Campus Center.

As the largest fundraiser for the Catholic Charities’ Samaritan Center, Empty Bowls coincides with World Food Day and is meant to raise awareness of the effects of hunger on our community. Catholic Charities collaborates with local potters to create handmade, commemorative bowls for each Empty Bowls attendee.
